What is Cork?
Cork is the bark of the Cork Oak tree.
It’s meticulously harvested by hand and
only 50 per cent of the bark is removed
at one time to protect the tree. The
Cork Oak reaches maturity at around 25
years old, and only then is it
harvested; stripped on 9-year cycles.
This process allows the Cork Oak tree to
use its own natural defenses to
protect itself from disease, etc. Cork
Oak trees live 150 to 200 years.
Artists are continually searching for
new surfaces. Artist Cork is a great
surface to use giving you texture,

it’s environmentally friendly, and is a
renewable resource.
